Fire at Silver Glen

The fire started midday on Saturday, March 14th. It appeared to have started close to Highway 19 at the entrance to the fish camp as you come into the Glen. It moved North, closing the actual park. A few boats left due to the smoke and went to Lake George to watch the activities. One houseboat that stays on shore year round was worried enough that they moved to the center of the Glen. It was interesting to watch the two helicopters. Nick and Carolee Bavaro took the dinghy out to the lake to watch the process of refilling the helicopters. The fire was out by the evening but there were more flare-ups on Sunday; however, they were far enough away that the park remained open.
