Spend an extended weekend of fun in beautiful Southwest Florida on the lovely island of Captiva. We have secured dockage at South Seas Island Resort, one of the premier resorts in Florida. Not only does the resort offer some of the finest amenities at any of our cruising destinations, but Sanibel and Captiva offer the nicest boating spots north of the Florida Keys.

The amenities at South Seas Resort are clearly some of the best offered at any Marina in the state. Come and join us for an great boating weekend at a world-class resort. Read below for a brochure description of this fine resort:

As one of the country’s premier family and special event destinations, South Seas Island Resort retains the intrinsic significance of its storied past. This iconic setting allows you to experience native Florida in all its wondrous beauty, while relaxing in one of Parents Magazine’s Top 10 Beach Resorts for families.
Situated on 330 acres, what makes this Captiva Island resort village so endearing bears comment as it is a story that includes a tale of two cities: South Village and North Pointe.
South Village is home to the spa, fitness center, an array of boutiques, 2 Islands Art Gallery and eateries in Chadwick’s Square.
North Pointe is home to the Resort Pool Complex including H2Whoa!, water sports, kids, ‘tweens and teens programs, the Nature Center, the Yacht Harbor Marina, the beachfront executive golf course and restaurants.
Established in 1972, this Captiva resort spans two and a half miles of shell-laden beaches framing the tranquil waters of the Gulf of Mexico. All amenities and accommodations have been designed and integrated to take full advantage of the nature.
Family. Nature. Comfort.
Discover the infinite reasons South Seas has become such a multi-generational classic and one of the best family resorts in the world.

Reservations have been made for the group. Nick will be handling all of the reservations with the Marina.   Please contact Nick to reserve your slip. Address and contract info is below:

We have proposed launching from Edgewater and cruising down the intercoastal to South Seas Marina. If you are uncomfortable about cruising alone to South Seas, drop Nick a note and we will work to get you safely to the dock.

When: Thursday, June 10th – Sunday June 13th – We have a full-extended weekend planned – please plan to join us for some boating, relaxing and resort living!

Thursday Night: CFC Social on the Docks @ 6:00 PM. Bring your favorite beverage to socialize, and then we will discuss dining options. The resort has several restaurants or we can take a shuttle to a couple of places outside of the resort entrance.

Possible Day Trip Options for Thursday – Friday – Saturday.

Option #1 – Take a short boat ride over to Fort Myers Beach. Fort Myers Beach has become a popular spring break site for many of the younger students. During the summer, the action is a lot more laid back. There is a nice sandbar to anchor to and wade ashore to the area. On Fort Myers Beach, there are numerous restaurants, shops, and other activities for both young and older (not to mention enjoying the day on the beach). Directly on the beach, near the anchor spot is Nemos on the Beach, an open air tiki bar and casual restaurant. This restaurant is a very nice dining spot and a great spot to watch the sunset. All of this activity is only about a 20-minute boat ride from South Seas.

Option #2 – About 50 miles to the South, just north of Marco Island, is a small sand bar that jets into the Gulf of Mexico. A short ride of the intercoastal will take you to the inside of this sand bar, where we can beach the boats only yards from a private and pristine beach. What makes this spot unique is how the intercoastal gently flows into and out of the Gulf, creating a natural “lazy river” to slowly tube up or down (depending on the tide). This was a favorite stop at last year’s Boat A Cade. This spot is certainly worth a short cruise down the Gulf.

Option #3 Only minutes from the entrance to the marina is North Captiva Beach and Island. This very private and quiet beach is a favorite of local boaters. Less than a one-mile boat ride.

Option #4 – Enjoy a day at the resort pools, golf course, beach, tennis courts, etc. Or enjoy one of the options above along with this option.

Friday Evening – We will have a Dock Party – Peggy and Nick will be grilling up Brats and Hot Dogs (or whatever other meat you want to bring). So, please bring along a side dish (hors d’oeuvre) or dessert to share, and enjoy some fun and casual food on the docks. Afterwards, we can return to the beach to watch a beautiful sunset and enjoy the evening.

HOTEL INFO: (For drive-ins or anyone else)

The resort has both hotel rooms and condo’s (1BD and 2 BD) right next to the marina. Unfortunately, the hotel and condo’s near the marina are completely booked for this weekend. There are some 2BD and 3BD units available on the South End of the property available, but these run about $350/night. The resort’s availability is shown here:

Currently, Tween Waters Inn is running a “Three Night Special” at $140/night. When I talked with the hotel at the end of April, they only had three rooms left, so if you are interested in driving in, please reserve your room quickly.

This resort is about 1.5 miles from the South Seas Resort (about 3 miles from the Marina). Tween Waters Inn is located at:

Tween Waters Inn
15951 Captiva Rd.
Captiva Island, FL 33924
(239) 472-5161

You may also try your luck and go through a travel website or purchase a time-share from a private party. If you need assistance in locating a spot, please contact Nick directly, and he will be happy to assist you in your search.
